Laptops are, by far, the most popular type of consumer computer on the market. Netbooks are a new type of computer that is making surprising leaps in popularity, but they have a long way to go before they will ever overtake the laptops. Then again, if you only need a computer to do some Web browsing and schoolwork, you can save some money and get a simpler model.

Laptops also give you the ability to take your productivity with you wherever you go. Whether you have to take your work on the road for your company, or you just want to relax and surf the net at a local hot spot, you can easily bring along one of these laptops so you can get all your work done.

Of course, netbooks could also be taken along and used in these situations, but because of their extremely small keyboards and monitors, it can take a while to get used to them. If you have to get some serious work done (for your job or for your social networks) it can get a little tiresome on such small devices.

There is no sign that laptops are going to slow in their growth rate any time soon. Manufacturers will continue to develop their technologies, and prices will continue to come down, and more people will really start to see how convenient and how productive these computers really are.
